Where are you Christmas MP3s Available Soon

Posted December 13th @ 6:25 am by Mary

MP3 downloads of Hollie Steel’s first single, Where are you Christmas will be available shortly. The release of the CD singles will be released tomorrow.

Hollie hopes downloads will propel her up the charts

The Huncoat 11-year-old’s song ‘Where are you Christmas‘ is available for pre-order online from HMV and is due to be released on Monday.

“I think it’s going into the stores next week and we probably won’t know how she’s done until the Sunday night after it’s been released.” From next week physical copies of the single, co-written by Mariah Carey, can be bought for £2.

But with it also going on download for 79p Hollie fans are hoping that the internet, which propelled her Britain’s Got Talent debut to worldwide audiences, can see her join the likes of Robbie Williams, George Michael and the X-Factor winner in the charts.

Nina said: “She needs about 7,000 downloads to get in the top 40 and that’s a lot for a little girl. But we have a lot more than 7,000 people in Accrington and 79p is nothing really to get a lovely song!”

Nina also revealed that the title of Hollie’s forthcoming album is virtually decided.

She said: “I think she’s going to call it ‘I Could’ve Danced All Night’, because that’s her song. She has got something like 23 million You Tube hits and most of them are for that.

Hollie sets her sights on the festive top 10

Hollie is getting ready for the release of her debut single “Where Are You Christmas” – which has been co-written by world-famous diva Mariah Carey. Mum Nina said the song will be available for download and in the shops on 7 December.

She added: “Hollie has had a really good time doing it all. She would love to get into the top 10 but we don’t know if that will happen or not.

Hollie hopes to follow up her debut single launch with the release of her first album in the New Year, which she has been recording in Nelson. “We have already recorded 12 songs,” Nina said.

“She has loved doing it all and it’s a mix of musical theatre, Disney and opera songs. It is a bit different so all the songs do not sound the same.”

As I posted earlier you can listen to her singing O mio (an aria from the opera Gianni Schicchi) and Nessun Dorma (an aria from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot) via her MySpace page.

Hollie Steel’s single a hit for Christmas

The East Lancashire youngster’s single Where Are You Christmas?, is performing well in the HMV pre-order for Christmas charts, despite receiving no no airplay yet.

Hollie’s mum Nina said that after just three days of being available on pre-order, Hollie’s single, co-written by Mariah Carey, rose rapidly to the number 10 spot for most popular HMV pre-ordered singles.

Right now the only way to order the single is through HMV in Britain. My guess is this is do to marketing and promotion, with the internet it should be easy to release the single as an MP3 anywhere over the internet to be downloaded by whoever wants it. According to the site UK delivery is free and for airmail “you will be charged a shipping cost for each item placed on your order – Europe £2.50, Rest Of The World £4.50.” Actually that isn’t that bad, I don’t think, and it may be that less expensive shipping is available (for slower shipping), it is not clear to me from the website.

On the CD-singles coming soon page Hollie’s single now appears in the 7th spot. And 3 above her are already shipping, so for true pre-orders she is in the 4th spot. Of course, since her release is only available as a CD from HMV that skews the rankings. But it is still nice to see it is selling. Hopefully the album will be released as a download as well as a CD.
